About The Cat Lounge Rescue and Adoption Center

We rescue cats in line for euthanasia at high kill shelters and provide a safe haven where the public can socialize, rehabilitate, and adopt.

The Cat Lounge Rescue and Adoption Center is one of the other places listed in La Jolla, California. The business is registered at 1006 Torrey Pines Rd, La Jolla, CA 92037; use this page to check its hours, phone number and Google rating before you make the trip. Besides its main category, the business also describes itself as non-profit organization, so it may cover more than the name suggests.

Places that do not fit a cafe, bakery, tea, breakfast or nearby-store category land here: tourist attractions, parks and museums with a cafe on site, and unrelated businesses that came in through an import or a Google Maps match. Attraction cafes usually keep the venue's hours and may require admission to reach, so check before making the trip; park kiosks and museum coffee counters are often seasonal. Other listings are kept so that an old address or phone number still resolves and can be re-filed into the right category later.

Hours are published for 5 days a week. On most of those days it is open 12–6 pm. Note that it does not open on Monday, Wednesday. Hours in the United States do change around federal holidays and long weekends, so a quick call before a special trip is sensible. The listed phone number is (858) 886-7083. Many businesses also reply to text messages on the same number if it is a cell phone. More information is available on its website, thecatlounge.org.

Customers rate it 4.5 out of 5 on Google across 297 reviews, placing it among the better-regarded other places in La Jolla.

La Jolla is in California, on the West Coast, where the climate ranges from foggy coast to hot inland valleys, wildfire season can affect air quality in late summer, and traffic is the main thing to plan around. US addresses list the street number and name, then the city, state abbreviation and ZIP code, and La Jolla follows the same pattern; a suite or apartment number such as Ste 200 refers to a unit inside the building. The map link on this page shows the exact spot.

I really enjoy this place, it does a lot of things right. The windows along the street give cats and kittens a chance to socialize with passersby while still remaining safe in their environments. The place is clean and doesn't smell of cat urine ( unlike another cat coffee place I won't mention. ) The animals are all clearly receiving medical attention and are in good health. The staff was very welcoming ( again, unlike another local place ) and allowed us free roam with just a simple explanation of the rules and a waiver to be signed. The staff could keep an eye on everyone from where they were without being overly involved or intrusive. It's a one-time admission fee that begins and ends when you want it to, not a structured "one hour block" of time like elsewhere. The cats here all seemed calm and far less stressed than that other place I keep not talking about. The cats actually wanted to come out to say hi, and when they changed their minds, they had the freedom to retreat to other places, both low and high. I would adopt from here.

I rescued 4 kittens in Playas de Tijuana, and I cannot imagine a better group of people to have entrusted those kittens to after fostering them for a month. They are so caring, attentive and faithful to cats who have nowhere else to go and need help to get to their forever homes! God bless everyone who works there-- both the paid employees and the generous volunteers who all love cats! From one fellow cat lover to other cat lovers... great job both for taking care of my 4 kittens and then finding them good homes with experienced cat owners (all the kittens went to homes that already had cats)!!! So fantastic =)

I had a very good time at cat lounge. The cats were friendly, I got to pet them and play with them. Since it's not kitten season there are less cats at the moment but the ones were there, are worth visiting for.

I had the best experience finding my sweet girl here! Their website is up to date with bios that really help you get a feel for each cat so you can make the most out of your visit. They approved my application form within a day or so, and there was minimal paperwork etc involved. The cats are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped which makes the adoption process so easy. Plus, they do booster shots at their location as well for a very reasonable price! Cannot thank the team enough for their advice and encouragement, and for helping me to find the sweetest cuddliest most perfect cat in the world! <3 Definitely consider the Cat Lounge in your adoption search for an intimate experience with their cats and for a team that knows all the cats quite well.

Wonderful place! The cats are all very healthy, active, and socialized. Incredibly clean and you can really tell the people that work there are very passionate about cats. Despite how many cats are there, there's no "cat" smell. My husband and I had a wonderful time visiting and even adopted Mister Frosty. He's quickly become my best friend and is the most Velcro cat I've ever met. I love him so much he even helps fold laundry.
